Welcome to Our LLM项目

As Associate Dean for 教师 and 全球 Programs, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to our LLM program. Our incoming LLM students for 2023-2024 are an extraordinary diverse cohort, and we are excited to welcome graduates of law schools from across the world. 也谢谢你, to our partner schools Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Colombia), University Paris Nanterre (France), Renmin University of China and the University Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne (France).

The 电子游戏软件 LLM program is designed to immerse participants in the United States legal system, including its storied system of legal education. Through the course of a year’s study, students are prepared for the challenges and opportunities that accompany our globally connected legal profession. The LLM curriculum is well integrated within the JD curriculum and also includes two dedicated LLM courses for the cohort as a 谁le.

The aim behind this integrated design is two-fold. 第一个, as students gain exposure to the latest developments in the US legal system, they also help bring their own ideas about social justice and public service – ideas that are central to our educational philosophy – to a world stage. 第二个, the presence of international LLM students and advanced US practitioners within the 电子游戏软件 Law School community, both inside and outside of the classroom, enriches our understanding of international legal norms and diverse legal cultures.

As part of my welcome to the LLM class of 2024, I wish to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of our LLM class of 2023, 谁, alongside our graduating and ongoing JD class, proved the resilience and necessity of global legal education. The continual operation of classes at 电子游戏软件 throughout the Covid-19 global pandemic, both virtually and in person, has become an enduring symbol of that resilience.

The LLM program possibilities are as diverse as the students we attract. 如果你加入我们, you can choose from among most courses in the Law School’s extensive curriculum, including both introductory and more advanced courses in your particular fields of interest. We do not channel students into particular subject area tracks, so you can sample a range of different fields if that makes sense for you. 然而, the curriculum also gives you ample opportunity to specialize in a particular area, both formally and informally.

BC Law has always placed a foremost emphasis on the professional knowledge that every good lawyer must possess, and that knowledge is imparted within a framework of ideals that have made the study and practice of law a calling for so many 谁 come here. This ethos makes for students 谁 are at once highly credentialed and highly collegial in their relationships with each other and with the faculty. It also makes for a strong sense of community that springs from a shared respect for law as the cornerstone of a society, and a shared respect for one another as legal scholars. That is what I think is special about BC Law.
